Dubai Sports City: Another Marvel To Be

Dubai is already a place of marvels.

It may be located in the dessert, but it has a skiing facility. The most beautiful white sand beaches in the world, sprawling over hundreds of hectares can be found here. The shopping experience has been hailed as "to-die for".

Dubai is already a place of marvels... with another marvel up on its way: the Dubai Sports City.

Dubai Sports City stands to be the world's original city geared for sports. Though its construction is still under way, it already is a marvel in itself even as a plan. It hopes to become a world class venue for sporting events, featuring world class sports facilities, as well as combine these venues and events with a residential lifestyle fueled sport lovers.

The 50 million square feet allocated to the Dubai Sports City project can be found in the bounds of the Dubailand development area, and aims to have four stadiums; a 10,000 seat indoor area for multipurpose events, a field hockey stadium capable of housing thousands of watchers, another multipurpose stadium, outdoor this time, with a 60,000 seat capacity and a 25,000 cricket stadium.

Dubai Sports City intends to be the venue for the first Manchester United Soccer Schools in the world, the first Butch Harmon School of Golf out of the United State's borders, a David Lloyd Tennis Academy and the International Cricket Council's Global Cricket Academy. Within the collective areas of the academies, a 3,000 square meter gymnasium, as well as an Olympic size swimming pool is also going to be put up.

Dubai Sports City is planned to have all the developments anticipated in a city, with hotels, leisure venues, international schools, and medical facilities, which are definitely going to be world class. The construction of a shopping destination is also projected, expected to rise on a 1.2 million square feet area. Plans for it to be a sports themed retail mall run congruent to the concept of Dubai Sports City.

Dubai Sports City is also going to be the venue for another first. Ernie Els' first golf course designed in the Middle East will be the centerpiece of the luxury golf community of Dubai Sports City. The course is planned to be named The Dunes, while the luxury golf community will be called Victory Heights.
Dubai Sports City is projected to be completed by 2010.

Dubai is already a place of marvels. Dubai Sports City, will be another marvel in Dubai.
